First Meeting Held Between Transition Teams of Trump and Harris at White House

Representatives for former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris’ transition teams convened for the initial meeting at the White House, as declared by the Biden administration. Chief of Staff Jeffrey Zients led the gathering of the White House Transition Coordinating Committee, which is the most senior transition planning group of the government. For the first time this year, representatives from both Harris and Trump were included in the meeting held on Tuesday. The meeting and invitation to representatives are mandated by the Presidential Transition Act, requiring designated candidate representatives to serve in an advisory role.
The meeting, held in the Roosevelt Room, lasted approximately one hour, according to the White House. Discussions during the meeting involved updates on various transition preparations, such as arranging office space for the nominees, identifying career officials to temporarily occupy vacant political appointee positions during the transition, and crafting memos on agency operations for the incoming president-elect’s team.
