General Motors has introduced a new option for owners of its electric vehicles seeking to use Tesla chargers. The Detroit-based automaker announced on Wednesday that it is granting access to over 17,800 Tesla Superchargers to its customers through the use of a GM-approved NACS DC adapter. The adapter can be purchased for $225 by customers in the United States through GM’s vehicle brand mobile apps.
By utilizing the Tesla Supercharger network, General Motors electric vehicle owners will gain access to more than 231,800 public Level 2 and DC fast chargers across North America. Wade Sheffer, the vice president of GM Energy, highlighted that this move is aimed at enhancing the customer experience and facilitating a smoother transition to electric vehicles.
The approved NACS DC adapters will first be released to customers in the United States, with availability to Canadian customers expected later this year.
