Jessica Pegula and Emma Navarro, both American tennis players who had impressive performances at the U.S. Open, are set to face each other in an exhibition event at Madison Square Garden on December 4th. This event, called The Garden Cup, will also showcase Carlos Alcaraz, a four-time major champion, against Ben Shelton. This occasion marks the first tennis event at Madison Square Garden since 2018, known for being the home arena of the NBA’s Knicks and NHL’s Rangers.
Jessica Pegula recently reached her first Grand Slam final at the U.S. Open, where she was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka. Meanwhile, Emma Navarro had a strong run, defeating defending champion Coco Gauff before falling to Sabalenka in the semifinals. Both Pegula and Navarro are currently ranked in the top 10 of the WTA rankings.
Carlos Alcaraz, who claimed victories at the French Open and Wimbledon this season, had an early exit at the U.S. Open. Ben Shelton, on the other hand, had his best major performance with a semifinal appearance at last year’s U.S. Open.
This exhibition event at Madison Square Garden promises to be an exciting showcase of tennis talent, bringing together top players for an exhilarating competition.
