Kayla McBride had a strong performance, scoring 15 points in total with 12 of them coming in the third quarter, leading the Minnesota Lynx to a 76-64 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night. Napheesa Collier also contributed to the win with 14 points and eight rebounds.
The game was tied at 50 with four minutes remaining in the third quarter when Minnesota went on a 13-4 run to take a 63-54 lead. McBride stepped up during this run, scoring seven points. The Lynx extended their lead to 74-60 in the fourth quarter, with Bridget Carleton hitting a crucial 3-pointer.
Minnesota’s defense was solid throughout the game, limiting Atlanta to just 30% shooting from the field (21 of 70). Carleton also ended the night with 14 points for the Lynx, who now have a season record of 27-9. Courtney Williams chipped in with 12 points, while Alanna Smith contributed nine.
Allisha Gray was the leading scorer for the Atlanta Dream with 17 points, making all eight of her free-throw attempts. Rhyne Howard added 14 points to the Dream’s score. Tina Charles achieved a franchise record for the most double-doubles in a season with 18, finishing the game with 13 points and 14 rebounds.
Carleton had an impressive first half, scoring 11 points by making all four of her shots, including three from beyond the arc. Williams also had a strong first half with 10 points, helping Minnesota to a 41-38 lead at halftime.
