Meitz connected with Fabian Baez three times for touchdowns during the game, contributing significantly to the team’s success.
Meitz’s first two touchdown passes to Baez helped Stetson secure a 14-0 lead by halftime. He then found Dalton Bailey for another touchdown in the third quarter, extending their lead to 21-0. By the end of the game, Meitz completed 29 of his 49 passes, accumulating 392 yards, and throwing the five touchdowns along with one interception. Baez proved to be a key player with 164 receiving yards on nine catches.
Stetson’s solid defense was evident as they managed to maintain a shutout, highlighted by a crucial goal-line stand in the final seven minutes. Jayden Jefferson’s tackle on Warner’s quarterback, Shane Hamm, on a fourth-and-goal play from the 1-yard line, secured the team’s shutout victory. Stetson’s dominant performance was reflected in their total yardage, outgaining Warner with 508 yards compared to 248 yards.
With this win, Stetson moved to a 2-0 record against the Royals, having emerged victorious in all five meetings between the two schools. The team’s impressive display on both offense and defense sets a strong foundation for their upcoming games in the season.
