Jordan McCloud showcased his skills with two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns, leading Texas State to a decisive 49-10 victory over UTSA on Saturday. McCloud’s performance included 309 passing yards on 18-of-27 attempts, along with 30 rushing yards. His 17-yard rushing touchdown and a 2-yard score in the first quarter set the tone for Texas State’s dominant first-half performance.
Texas State took a commanding 35-3 lead by halftime, boosted by big plays such as Chris Dawn Jr.’s 46-yard touchdown reception and Lincoln Pare’s explosive 45-yard touchdown run. Pare finished the game with 109 rushing yards on just 11 carries, scoring two touchdowns. Dawn contributed significantly with five receptions for 150 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bobcats outperformed the Roadrunners offensively, amassing 504 total yards compared to UTSA’s 334 yards. UTSA saw Owen McCown start at quarterback, with Eddie Lee Marburger taking over in the second half. Despite Marburger’s efforts, including a touchdown pass, UTSA fell short in their attempt to maintain their winning streak against Texas State, dropping to a 1-1 record.
Prior to this game, UTSA had won all five previous meetings between the two teams. This victory marks Texas State’s second win of the season, advancing their record to 2-0.
