Washington secures dominant victory over Eastern Michigan as Will Rogers throws 4 touchdown passes

Will Rogers led Washington to a 30-9 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday with 261 passing yards and four touchdowns. Despite another slow start, the Huskies managed to secure the win, thanks to a strong performance from Rogers and the team’s resilient offense.

Under new head coach Jedd Fisch, Washington struggled in the first quarter but picked up momentum in the second quarter. Rogers threw three touchdowns in the second quarter, with two going to Denzel Boston, who played a crucial role in revving up the Washington offense.

Rogers completed 78% of his passes for 511 yards in his first two games with Washington, showcasing his efficiency and effectiveness as a quarterback. Additionally, Jonah Coleman rushed for 104 yards, contributing to Washington’s 16th consecutive home game win.

Eastern Michigan managed to take an early 3-0 lead in the first quarter but Washington’s defense and key plays, like Cameron Broussard’s fumble recovery, turned the tide in their favor. Rogers connected with his teammates for multiple touchdowns, extending Washington’s lead.

While Eastern Michigan had hoped for a different outcome, Washington’s strength and speed proved too much for them to handle. Looking ahead, Washington faces tougher challenges in the upcoming games, including the Apple Cup and their Big Ten debut.

Eastern Michigan will host Jacksonville State next, while Washington is set to face Washington State at the Seattle Seahawks’ Lumen Field in their next matchup.
