Kadin Semonza shined on the field, throwing a total of four touchdown passes to lead Ball State to a 42-34 season-opening victory against Missouri State in Muncie, Indiana. In a tight game, Semonza’s last touchdown throw to Tanner Koziol in the final quarter secured a 35-21 lead for the Cardinals with seven minutes left. Missouri State fought back, scoring late, but Braedon Sloan’s 40-yard touchdown sealed the victory for Ball State. The game saw an intense final quarter with both teams combining for 48 points.

Semonza showcased his skills by completing 28 of 39 passes for 251 yards, while Sloan rushed for 103 yards on 21 carries and also added a receiving touchdown. On the other side, Missouri State’s Jacob Clark completed 19 of 32 passes for 258 yards, including a touchdown and an interception. Jmariyae Robinson was a standout for the Bears with seven receptions for 102 yards.

Missouri State initially took the lead with P.J. Hall intercepting the ball and returning it 59 yards for a touchdown. However, Ball State fought back, and it was tied 7-7 at halftime. Both teams scored in the third quarter before Semonza connected with Sloan for an 11-yard touchdown early in the fourth, giving Ball State a lead they never relinquished.
