Austin Hill achieved a remarkable victory at his hometown track, Atlanta Motor Speedway, in the Xfinity Series, making it a clean sweep for him this season. Since the track was reconfigured to a drafting track layout in 2022, Hill has won three out of the five Xfinity races held at Atlanta. Notable Cup Series drivers Ty Gibbs and John Hunter Nemechek, who won the other two races, did not participate in Saturday’s event.
Hill, driving for Richard Childress Racing in a Chevrolet, expressed his satisfaction with the victory, crediting the car’s speed and his team’s efforts. He celebrated the win with his young son, Barrett, who enthusiastically congratulated his dad during the post-race interview. This marked Hill’s third win of the season, following victories at Daytona and Atlanta earlier in the year before a winless streak that ended on Saturday.
The race saw Parker Kligerman finishing second and AJ Allmendinger in third place, securing a podium sweep for Chevrolet. Chandler Smith and Corey Heim claimed the fourth and fifth positions for Toyota. Smith, however, expressed frustration for not being more assertive during the race, expecting more support from Heim. Ultimately, Heim collaborated with Hill, helping him secure the lead over Smith in the final laps.
Lawless Alan was the highest-finishing Ford driver, coming in 13th place. Hill’s victory at Atlanta Motor Speedway further establishes his dominance on the track since the layout was changed, showcasing his aptitude for the drafting track configuration.
