The Green Bay Packers had a disappointing start to the season with quarterback Jordan Love leading the offense, only to see him leave the field with a left leg injury in their 34-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil. The severity of Love’s injury is unknown at this time, leaving the team concerned about the status of their franchise quarterback.
As Love’s backup, Malik Willis, a 2022 third-round draft pick from Liberty, is the only other quarterback on the roster. Willis, known for his running abilities more than passing, lacks experience with only three career starts and limited passing yards in those games.
The Packers, who had high hopes for the season with Love at the helm, struggled to capitalize on the game despite gaining 414 total yards in offense. Penalties, red-zone inefficiency, and difficulties containing Saquon Barkley were significant factors in their loss to the Eagles.
Looking ahead, the Packers’ defense showed promise with two interceptions off Jalen Hurts, but areas like penalties, red-zone efficiency, and defense against Philadelphia need improvement. Wide receiver Jayden Reed impressed with a strong performance, while tight end Tucker Kraft solidified his position on the depth chart.
Injuries also affected the Packers as center Josh Myers experienced leg cramps during the game. Despite the setbacks, the team will aim to make necessary improvements before their next game at home against the Indianapolis Colts on September 15.
