In Santa Fe, New Mexico, a prosecutor has requested a judge to review the decision to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin in relation to the ‘Rust’ case.
The request comes after the accidental shooting incident on the set of the film ‘Rust’, where cinematographer Halyna Hutchins lost her life and director Joel Souza was injured.
Baldwin, who was also a producer on the project, was holding a prop gun when it discharged, leading to the tragic event.
The decision to drop the involuntary manslaughter charge was made by a different judge, who cited insufficient evidence during a preliminary hearing.
However, the prosecutor is now urging for a reconsideration of that ruling and for the charge to be reinstated against Baldwin in the ongoing legal proceedings.
The ‘Rust’ case has garnered significant attention and scrutiny within the entertainment industry, sparking conversations about safety protocols on film sets and the responsibilities of those involved in handling firearms during productions.
