Baltimore Orioles pitcher Dean Kremer had to exit Saturday night’s game against Colorado early after being struck by a line drive in the fourth inning. Jordan Beck hit a liner up the middle on a four-seam fastball, hitting Kremer on his right forearm just below the wrist. The ball was fielded by shortstop Gunnar Henderson, who then threw to second base for a forceout. Following the incident, Kremer was evaluated by team trainers and was subsequently replaced by Keegan Akin. The 28-year-old right-handed pitcher was later diagnosed with a right forearm contusion but fortunately, X-rays showed no serious injury.
This early departure marked Kremer’s shortest start of the season, as he was charged with four runs and six hits in just 3 1/3 innings of play. The Orioles will likely monitor Kremer’s condition closely to determine his availability for future games.
