In Los Angeles, the Sparks secured a 94-88 victory over the New York Liberty, breaking a seven-game losing streak. Dearica Hamby led the Sparks with 21 points, while rookie Rickea Jackson contributed 19 points. Rae Burrell added 18 points, shooting 7 of 8 from the field and 3 of 3 from the 3-point range. Odyssey Sims scored 14 points with seven assists, and Azurá Stevens added 10 points to the winning effort.

Despite the loss, New York’s Breanna Stewart was the top scorer of the game with 32 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter. Sabrina Ionescu also made an impact with 18 points and six assists. Jackson’s crucial 3-pointer in the closing seconds of the third quarter gave the Sparks a lead they maintained until the end of the game. Burrell’s performance in the fourth quarter helped fend off the Liberty’s efforts to reclaim the lead.

The Liberty, who have a record of 26-5, have lost two of their last three games after an eight-game winning streak. They are now just 2 1/2 games ahead of the Minnesota Lynx, who have won seven consecutive games, for the best record in the league. New York managed to tie the score multiple times in the third quarter but was unable to take the lead after the first quarter.

Ionescu’s streak of consecutive games with a made 3-pointer reached 55 games, tying her with Diana Taurasi for the second-longest streak in WNBA history. Additionally, Ionescu surpassed Vickie Johnson to move into second on the Liberty’s all-time assist list with 792 assists. Teresa Weatherspoon holds the top spot with 1,306 assists in Liberty’s history. Players like Jackson, Sims, and Stevens contributed significantly to the Sparks’ victory and helped in breaking their losing streak.
