Freddy Peralta showcased an impressive performance, pitching six scoreless innings, while William Contreras’s two-run homer helped the Milwaukee Brewers secure a 5-3 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday night. Peralta, who improved to 9-7, only allowed two hits and two walks through five innings. The Giants put pressure in the sixth inning, but Peralta struck out Heliot Ramos to maintain the shutout.
Kyle Harrison (7-6) initially held the Brewers at bay but struggled in the fifth inning when the Brewers scored five runs. The rally included RBIs from Jackson Chourio and Blake Perkins before Contreras smacked a two-run home run. Harrison left the game after striking out seven batters and walking three.
Devin Williams sealed the win for the Brewers with a flawless ninth inning, earning his sixth save of the season. Meanwhile, the Giants managed to score one run in the seventh inning and two more in the eighth.
The Giants’ Matt Chapman and Michael Conforto contributed to the late-game rally, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Brewers’ lead. The Giants could potentially welcome back C Patrick Bailey from the injured list soon.
The series will conclude with RHP Hayden Birdsong starting for the Giants and RHP Aaron Civale taking the mound for the Brewers on Thursday afternoon. The Brewers will look to build on their victory and secure the series win.
