Satou Sabally led the Dallas Wings to a 93-90 victory over the Las Vegas Aces with an impressive performance, scoring 28 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Natasha Howard also contributed significantly with 24 points. Despite A’ja Wilson’s 42-point night for the Aces, the Wings managed to secure the win.
Dallas, with a record of 8-22, notched their second consecutive victory after defeating Los Angeles in their previous game. This win also ended a seven-game losing streak against Las Vegas for the Wings. Sabally’s crucial 3-pointer while drawing a foul and converting the ensuing free throw tied the game at 79 midway through the fourth quarter.
In the closing moments of the game, Arike Ogunbowale made two free throws to give Dallas a 91-90 lead. Las Vegas had the opportunity to win or tie the game, but Jackie Young missed a shot, and Dallas secured the rebound to seal the victory. Sabally added two more free throws to make it 93-90, and Las Vegas couldn’t convert a game-tying shot at the buzzer.
Despite Wilson’s impressive performance for Las Vegas, scoring 42 points on 16 of 22 shooting, Dallas’ balanced effort led them to outscore the Aces 32-21 in the final quarter. Ogunbowale contributed 20 points, while Teaira McCowan had a strong showing with eight points and 17 rebounds for the Wings.
Jackie Young scored 17 points, and Chelsea Gray added 15 for the Aces. In the first half, Wilson and Young combined for 30 points to help Las Vegas build a lead, but Dallas’ resilient play in the fourth quarter turned the tide in their favor.
