Barcelona has loaned out French defender Clément Lenglet to Atletico Madrid for the third consecutive season. Atletico confirmed the signing of the 29-year-old Lenglet until the end of the current season. The move may see him participating in the revamped 32-team 2025 Club World Cup held in the United States from mid-June to July. Atletico qualified for the tournament while Barcelona did not. Lenglet joined Barcelona in 2018 but had been on loan in the Premier League for the last two seasons, first with Tottenham and then with Aston Villa. During his time at Villa last season, he featured in 14 Premier League matches, helping the team secure a fourth-place finish and qualify for the Champions League. Both Atletico Madrid and Barcelona will be part of the Champions League draw scheduled for Thursday in Monaco. The new Champions League format, which involves 36 teams playing in a single-league standings, will kick off next month.
