In northern Mexico, unidentified assailants carried out an attack on a vehicle transporting migrants, resulting in the death of one person and the injury of eight others. Among the wounded were individuals from Mexico, Ecuador, and Africa. The fatal victim was a young boy from southern Mexico. The incident occurred on Sunday in Tubutama, a town around 47 miles south of Sasabe, a town located on the Arizona border. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but the region has experienced violence emanating from clashes between rival gangs of migrant smugglers linked to conflicting drug cartels. It is common for drug cartels in Mexico to demand payment from smugglers transporting migrants through their territories, resorting to violent measures when these payments are not fulfilled.
