The Edmonton Oilers made trades on Sunday, sending defenseman Cody Ceci and a third-round draft pick in 2025 to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for defenseman Ty Emberson. Ceci, 30 years old, recorded five goals and 20 assists in 79 games during the previous season with Edmonton, adding two goals and three assists in 24 playoff games. He has one year left on his contract worth $3.25 million. On the other hand, Emberson, aged 24, contributed a goal and nine assists in 30 games for the San Jose Sharks in the last season.
In another move earlier in the day, the Oilers acquired Russian right wing Vasily Podkolzin from the Vancouver Canucks by trading Ottawa’s fourth-round pick in 2025. Podkolzin, 23 years old, tallied two assists in 19 regular-season games and participated in two playoff games for Vancouver last season. These trades mark significant changes in the Edmonton Oilers’ lineup as they gear up for the upcoming NHL season.
