Stetson Bennett threw for 213 yards and a touchdown pass to JJ Laap in the fourth quarter to lead the Los Angeles Rams to a 13-9 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Chargers. Bennett’s connection with Laap came after he threw an interception and missed a field goal in previous drives. Joshua Karty contributed with two field goals for the Rams. Bennett, filling in for Matthew Stafford and Jimmy Garoppolo, played the full game in both preseason matches.
On the Chargers’ side, Cameron Dicker kicked three field goals for his team but the offense still struggled to find the end zone, failing to score a touchdown. Backup quarterback Easton Stick filled in for the injured Justin Herbert and managed two successful drives resulting in field goals, but he also had turnovers during the game.
The Chargers had a close opportunity to score when they reached the Rams 21-yard line, but Cornelius Johnson couldn’t secure a pass on fourth down. The game saw a series of field goals exchanged between the two teams before Dicker’s 37-yard field goal put the Chargers ahead in the fourth quarter.
Looking ahead, the Rams will face Houston next Saturday, while the Chargers will play against Dallas. The Chargers will be working on improving their offensive performance as they aim to secure their first preseason win.
