Louisville senior wide receiver Caullin Lacy is facing a recovery period of six to eight weeks due to a broken collarbone sustained during a scrimmage on Saturday. The South Alabama transfer, who topped the Sun Belt Conference last season with 1,316 receiving yards, was anticipated to play a crucial role in the Cardinals’ offense. Lacy, a first-team All-Sun Belt selection in the previous season, amassed 208 receptions for 2,521 yards and scored 13 touchdowns in his four seasons with the Jaguars. His yardage total ranked as the seventh best in the Football Bowl Subdivision during the prior season.
Louisville, who narrowly missed making the AP Top 25 preseason poll with 111 votes, is set to kick off the season on August 31 against Austin Peay.
