Kiner-Falefa records a trio of hits in the Pirates’ 7-2 victory over the struggling Mariners

Isiah Kiner-Falefa delivered an impressive performance by securing three hits, including a home run in the first inning, aiding the Pittsburgh Pirates in their 7-2 victory over the struggling Seattle Mariners. Pittsburgh’s Rowdy Tellez and Jared Triolo also contributed to the win by hitting home runs, as did Joey Bart with a pair of doubles. This victory marked the Pirates’ second consecutive win after enduring a challenging 10-game losing streak.

Left-handed pitcher Bailey Falter of the Pirates had a notable game, tallying a career-high eight strikeouts while allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings. Falter, who permitted eight hits and issued no walks, proved instrumental in securing the win for Pittsburgh. Meanwhile, the Seattle Mariners suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, with the team currently holding the second position in the AL West standings.

In the ninth inning, the Pirates faced pressure as the Mariners loaded the bases with a walk and two hit batters by Domingo German. However, David Bednar stepped in and closed the game by retiring three consecutive batters, securing his 22nd save of the season. Kiner-Falefa’s home run, a 406-foot shot off Luis Castillo, was particularly notable as it marked his first since being acquired in a trade with Toronto on July 30. Additionally, it was the first time the seasoned infielder led off a game with a home run.
