Cincinnati Bengals’ kicker Evan McPherson, also known as “Money Mac,” has secured a lucrative deal. He has agreed to a three-year contract extension worth $16.5 million, ensuring he remains with the team and avoids free agency in March. McPherson, recognized for his ability to make crucial kicks, will see a significant increase in earnings, with $10 million guaranteed for 2025, a substantial rise from his previous base salary of $1,055,000 in 2024.
Selected in the fifth round of the 2021 draft from Florida, McPherson has impressively converted 78 of 93 field-goal attempts over three seasons, including 21 successful kicks from beyond 50 yards, along with 126 of 132 extra points made. Bengals owner/president Mike Brown had expressed interest in extending McPherson’s contract, emphasizing his value to the team.
McPherson is one of several kickers to secure extensions recently. Among them is Harrison Butker of the Kansas City Chiefs, who signed a four-year deal worth $25.6 million, becoming the highest-paid kicker in the NFL. Additionally, Dustin Hopkins of the Cleveland Browns signed a three-year, $15.9 million extension in July, and Jake Elliott of the Philadelphia Eagles inked a four-year, $24 million contract in March.
