A woman from Missouri, Lisa Jeanine Findley, has been taken into custody for allegedly plotting a deceitful sale of Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, stated the Justice Department on Friday. Findley, 53, who resides in Kimberling City, Missouri, is charged with devising a plan to take over the Presley family’s ownership rights in Graceland by falsely asserting that Presley’s daughter used the property as collateral for an unpaid loan prior to her demise. Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Nicole M. Argentieri of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division mentioned that the defendant, under multiple aliases, fabricated counterfeit documents and attempted to extort money from the Presley family as part of the audacious scheme.
An attorney for Findley could not be identified from court records, and no contact number was immediately accessible in public databases. An email requesting a comment, sent to an address allegedly used by Findley in the fraudulent operation, remained unanswered.
In May, a judge intervened to stop the foreclosure auction of Graceland, the cherished tourist site in Memphis, acknowledging the potential for Elvis Presley’s estate to argue against the illegitimate auctioning of the property by a company. Following the Graceland controversy investigation by the Tennessee attorney general’s office, it was confirmed in June that the case was transferred to federal authorities for further scrutiny.
