In Berea, Ohio, Minnesota Vikings’ No. 2 wide receiver Jordan Addison sustained a left ankle injury at the beginning of the first of two joint practices with the Browns. The second-year player seemed to have landed on a Cleveland defender’s foot while attempting to catch a pass from Vikings starting quarterback Sam Darnold on Wednesday.
Addison tried to walk after the injury but stumbled and needed assistance. Eventually, he had to be driven off the field on a cart. Coach Kevin O’Connell mentioned that Addison would not be practicing, awaiting test results before providing a time frame for his return.
Coach O’Connell is expected to talk to the media after Thursday’s practice to give an update on the team’s current injuries. The Vikings are set to face the Browns in their second preseason game on Saturday.
The unfortunate incident with Addison occurred on the same day the Vikings learned about losing rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy for the season due to a knee injury. Addison, a first-round pick in 2023, had an impressive rookie year with 70 catches, 911 yards, and 10 touchdowns. He played a crucial role alongside standout wide receiver Justin Jefferson in the Vikings’ offense.
