The 2025 spring training season is set to kick off on February 20 with the Los Angeles Dodgers facing the Chicago Cubs in the Cactus League opener in Glendale, Arizona. The Grapefruit League will begin the next day with the New York Yankees hosting the Rays in Tampa, Florida. Major League Baseball announced that all 30 teams will play on February 22.
A highlight of the spring training schedule is the Spring Breakout event showcasing prospects, scheduled for March 13-16. According to MLB, 93 players who participated in last year’s breakout games have already made appearances in the big leagues this season.
On March 24 and 25, Atlanta will face the Chicago Cubs in a crossover game in Mesa, Arizona, while the Colorado Rockies will play Minnesota in Fort Myers, Florida. Exhibitions at regular-season ballparks are set to take place from March 23-25, including matchups like Cleveland at Arizona and Kansas City at Texas, with more games to be added. Houston will also host Triple-A Sugar Land at Minute Maid Park.
The season will officially commence on March 18 with a Tokyo game between the Dodgers and the Chicago Cubs. The remaining teams will begin their seasons on March 27.
