Donald Trump’s legal team is requesting a delay in his sentencing in the hush money criminal case in New York until after the upcoming November presidential election. Trump’s lawyer, Todd Blanche, expressed concern that holding the sentencing on September 18, just seven weeks before Election Day, could be seen as interfering with the election process. The lawyer also mentioned that postponing the sentencing would give Trump time to consider his options following a ruling from Judge Juan M. Merchan, expected on September 16, regarding a request to overturn the verdict and dismiss the case based on a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity. Blanche emphasized the importance of not rushing the proceedings.
