Newcastle’s Italian midfielder, Sandro Tonali, will be eligible to play for the team again starting on August 28 after serving a 10-month ban for breaching betting regulations set by the Italian federation. This ban was a result of him betting on teams he was a part of, and he has been out of action since October. Additionally, an independent regulatory commission imposed an extra two-month ban on Tonali, which was suspended until the conclusion of the upcoming season.
Newcastle FC has received confirmation from the Italian football federation that Tonali’s suspension will officially end on August 27. Consequently, Tonali will not be available for Newcastle’s first two Premier League matches against Southampton and Bournemouth, as well as the English League Cup game against Nottingham Forest on August 27. It is anticipated that Tonali could make his return to the pitch during Newcastle’s match against Tottenham on September 1.
