Authorities in Colorado are investigating the tragic killing of dog breeder Paul Peavey, aged 57, and are actively searching for up to 10 missing Doberman puppies from his breeding business. The Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office revealed that the puppies could provide crucial clues in solving the homicide case, although a motive for Peavey’s killing has not yet been determined.
As of Tuesday, no suspects have been apprehended, and the valuable puppies, each worth thousands of dollars, remain unaccounted for. Peavey was last in contact on August 19, and his body was discovered on Saturday by a volunteer search team. The location where Peavey was found and details of his death have not been disclosed.
Situated in Idaho Springs, approximately 34 miles west of Denver in the mountains, Peavey’s breeding enterprise was known for its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Specializing in providing trained 7-month-old Doberman puppies, his most recent litter was born in mid-July, indicating that the missing puppies could be younger than the standard age for sale.
The sheriff’s office mentioned that the absent puppies have identification microchips connecting them to Peavey’s business. It is suspected that the puppies might have been sold through online platforms or other means after August 20. Individuals who have purchased a Doberman puppy from central Colorado in the past week are urged to contact the authorities. Moreover, buyers of puppies from Elite European Dobermans since June are also encouraged to reach out to help determine the exact number of missing puppies.
