Star Couple Spotted On Upper West Side
Harrison Ford subway sightings aren’t something New Yorkers expect — until Monday, when the legendary actor rode the city’s transit system alongside wife Calista Flockhart. The two were seen walking through Manhattan’s Upper West Side before descending into the subway for a rare public ride.
Once on the platform, the couple shared a sweet kiss goodbye before parting ways. Flockhart, 60, caught an express downtown 2 train heading toward her off-Broadway show. Ford, 82, followed her instructions and boarded the slower 1 train toward 59th Street.
First Subway Ride In Years
Onboard the train, the “Indiana Jones” star sat next to a woman in pink and struck up a conversation. Ford reportedly told her it was his first subway ride in years. He wore a button-down shirt, dark blue jeans, black boots, and classic black-rimmed glasses, looking casual but unmistakable.
The Harrison Ford subway sighting shocked commuters, who were surprised to see a Hollywood icon on a regular MTA train. Ford seemed relaxed, soaking in the everyday experience.
Calista Flockhart Heads To The Stage
Flockhart kept it low-key in a gray sweater, blue jeans, a navy blue hat, and a black face mask. She carried a black backpack and appeared focused as she hurried to her performance in Sam Shepard’s “Curse of the Starving Class.”
The actress has been performing off-Broadway while Ford recovers from a recent health setback that caused him to miss the 2025 Oscars.
Ford’s First Appearance Since Oscars Exit
The Harrison Ford subway ride marked his first public appearance since stepping down as a presenter at this year’s Academy Awards. His rep confirmed the actor had been diagnosed with shingles and canceled his March 2 appearance the day before the ceremony.
Just one week earlier, Ford appeared at the SAG Awards, where he was nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Apple TV+’s “Shrinking.” He lost to Martin Short, while “Shrinking” also lost Best Ensemble to “Only Murders in the Building.”
Ford Gushes Over Flockhart
At the SAGs, Ford explained Flockhart’s absence. “My wife is in New York doing a play,” he said proudly. The two have shared over two decades together since meeting at the 59th Golden Globe Awards in 2002.
Ford proposed during a vacation in 2009, and the couple wed the following year in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ford adopted Flockhart’s son, Liam, whom she had adopted in 2001.
Would Ford Ever Share The Stage?
During a PaleyLive event for “Shrinking,” Ford addressed whether he’d ever work alongside his wife. “That’s just the circumstantial reality where we haven’t been offered something where we’d work together,” he said. Still, the actor made it clear: “I’d love to work with her.”
Monday’s Harrison Ford subway moment gave fans a glimpse of the couple’s everyday affection, proving that even iconic stars like Ford find joy in the ordinary, especially in the heart of New York.
