Music icon opens up about health struggles
Elton John, 77, has revealed that he has lost his eyesight following a battle with a severe infection. Speaking at Dominion Theatre in London after a charity gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical, the legendary musician shared his personal struggles with the audience.
Elton credits his husband for his support

“I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it,” John told the crowd, adding heartfelt gratitude to his husband, David Furnish. “To my husband, who’s been my rock … I love to hear it, and boy, it sounded good tonight!”
Vision issues revealed earlier
The “Rocket Man” singer previously discussed his limited vision in early September, explaining that a severe eye infection left him with sight in only one eye. Despite hopes for recovery, John recently admitted that his left eye is also compromised.
Charity gala attracts stars

John’s appearance at the Devil Wears Prada: The Musical gala drew a star-studded audience, including Anna Wintour, Lily Collins, and Elizabeth Hurley. While unable to see the performance, John celebrated the production’s success and its powerful music.
A long road to recovery
Reflecting on his condition in a recent Good Morning America interview, John expressed both hope and frustration: “It’s been four months now since I haven’t been able to see … there’s hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I’m kind of stuck at the moment.”
