Over 100,000 homes without power after severe storms hit Texas as extreme weather threatens south


Houston (KIAH) – Severe storms that swept through southeast Texas overnight have caused significant power outages, leaving numerous households in the region in the dark.

According to the latest update from CenterPoint Energy’s outage tracker at 6:25 a.m. Wednesday, more than 108,100 homes are currently without power. Among these, over 49,000 homes are situated in the Houston area alone.

The number of affected households has slightly decreased since earlier reports, when over 129,000 homes were without power as the storms battered the area overnight.

In addition, Entergy’s outage tracker reveals that as of 7 a.m. Wednesday, the impact extends beyond Houston. Over 15,100 homes in Montgomery County, 958 homes in Liberty County, and 942 homes in Grimes County are also experiencing power outages.
