In a recent incident in southern Lebanon, an Israeli drone launched a strike on a vehicle, resulting in the death of one individual, who, according to the Israeli military, was associated with Hezbollah. This development was reported by Lebanon’s state-operated National News Agency, although the details about the attack in Bourj el-Mlouk remain scant.
This airstrike is a continuation of a series of such operations observed since a U.S.-facilitated ceasefire was implemented in late November, concluding the prolonged 14-month conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The individual targeted was reportedly active in the border village of Kfar Kila, as per statements from the Israeli military.
The drone attack occurred shortly after a Lebanese military court handed down prison sentences to two individuals accused of providing digital intelligence to Israel. According to judicial sources, one individual received a 15-year sentence, while the other was given a 10-year jail term. A third accused person was released due to insufficient evidence, said the officials, who requested anonymity as they were not authorized to publicly disclose case details.
The convicted individuals reportedly engaged in unauthorized scanning of the cellular telephone networks in extensive regions of Beirut and its southern suburbs, areas known for hosting Hezbollah’s main facilities. They allegedly used advanced equipment for this purpose and were said to have passed over approximately 1,500 images from Beirut’s southern neighborhoods to Israel. The two men were initially detained last year in connection with these activities.
