Bell scores 23 points in Wichita State’s 78-67 win against Tulane

    WICHITA, Kan. — In an exciting matchup on Sunday, Wichita State triumphed over Tulane with a score of 78-67, driven by a stellar performance from Xavier Bell, who contributed 23 points for the Shockers.

    Bell’s shooting was impressive, hitting 7 of 15 attempts from the field, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc, and perfecting all six of his free-throw attempts. Wichita State’s overall record improved to 17-10, with a conference standing of 7-7 in the American Athletic Conference. Alongside Bell, Corey Washington also played a significant role, scoring 19 points while shooting 7 of 11, and making 5 of his 7 free-throw attempts. Washington also collected eight rebounds to aid the team’s effort. Quincy Ballard rounded out the strong performance with 11 points from 5 of 7 shooting, and he contributed nine boards.

    For the Green Wave of Tulane, both Rowan Brumbaugh and Gregg Glenn III provided a lift, each scoring 18 points. Kaleb Banks added to the team’s tally with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Wichita State.

    In the first half, Washington managed to score eight points; however, Wichita State found themselves trailing at halftime, 31-29. The game shifted momentum after Bell scored the last six points for Wichita State, allowing them to secure their sixth consecutive victory by an 11-point margin.
