DUNEDIN, Fla. — While the football season has come to an end, its consequences are still being felt by Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Chris Bassitt.
After finishing with a disappointing record of 4-10 in the team’s fantasy football league, Bassitt was assigned a lighthearted punishment. On Saturday, he donned a jersey that read “4-10” on the back and took on the role of bat boy during a game, as reported by Sportsnet. The Blue Jays emerged victorious against the New York Yankees with a score of 6-4.
In addition to this amusing penalty, Saturday marked Bassitt’s 36th birthday, adding a unique twist to the day’s events.
Now entering his third year with the Blue Jays, Bassitt had a challenging previous season, finishing with a record of 10-14 and a 4.16 ERA. Although his performance on the baseball field may not have been stellar, it certainly outshone his fantasy football endeavors.
