Three fatally shot outside a vehicle registration office in Louisville, Kentucky, according to police.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In a tragic incident on Friday, three individuals lost their lives due to a shooting that occurred outside a vehicle licensing office in Louisville. According to local police, the shooting took place around noon, where officers discovered a deceased male and two female victims in the parking lot. The two injured women were promptly transported to a medical facility; however, they both succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.

A significant police presence quickly descended upon the scene at the state Driver Licensing Office, situated on the southern fringes of the city. Investigators placed multiple evidence markers on the ground, indicating the area where the shooting transpired, located approximately 20 feet from the building’s entrance.

Police Major Donald Boeckman reported that the assailant fled in a vehicle, though specific details regarding the car were not immediately available. Investigators are currently analyzing surveillance footage to gather more information on the suspect. Boeckman commented on the incident, expressing disbelief that more individuals were not harmed and assured that there is no ongoing threat to public safety at this time.

As for the victims, it remains unclear whether they knew each other, according to police statements. In response to the shooting, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed his condolences via social media, labeling the event as “a senseless act of violence.”

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, which manages the licensing office, released a statement emphasizing their quick response to secure the premises following the shooting. “We are grateful that all our employees are safe, and our hearts go out to the victims of this tragic event,” the statement read. Subsequently, all employees were sent home, and the office was closed for the remainder of the day.
