SAO PAULO — Lady Gaga has announced an upcoming free concert set to take place at Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro on May 3.
In a heartfelt message shared on her social media, she expressed her excitement, stating, “I’ve been dying to come perform for you for years and was heartbroken when I had to cancel years ago because I was hospitalized.”
The pop star had previously canceled a scheduled performance at Rock in Rio in 2017 due to health issues, which she acknowledged in her apologies to fans during that time, emphasizing the importance of focusing on her recovery.
“I am now coming back, and I feel better than ever and am working so hard to make sure this show is one you will never forget,” she added, sharing her enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
This concert will follow in the footsteps of Madonna, who also performed a free show on the same beach last May, drawing an astonishing crowd of around 1.6 million to the iconic Copacabana shoreline.
Mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, who was re-elected for another four years last year, has committed to hosting major international concerts in the city every May.
He humorously noted on social media, “I don’t have tickets for the Lady Gaga show! It’s open and free!” while sharing the exciting news.
