In a highly competitive matchup, N.C. State, currently ranked 13th, triumphed over 20th-ranked Georgia Tech with a score of 83-68 on Thursday night. Aziaha James and Zoe Brooks each contributed 17 points, playing pivotal roles in the Wolfpack’s victory. Saniya Rivers added 16 points while Madison Hayes had an impressive outing with 14 points, helping N.C. State improve its record to 21-5, including 13-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. This win marked a decisive rebound for the team following a narrow loss to No. 12 North Carolina just last Sunday, which had ended their previous nine-game winning streak.

The Wolfpack showcased their scoring ability, particularly in the third quarter, where Hayes made two 3-pointers, leading the team to outscore the Yellow Jackets 24-17. Hayes opened the fourth quarter with yet another three-pointer, pushing the lead to 69-53. Georgia Tech made an effort to close the gap by launching an 8-0 run, bringing the score to 71-63 with just over seven minutes remaining. However, the Wolfpack maintained their advantage and did not allow Georgia Tech to come closer.

James was particularly strong in the first half, scoring 15 points, while Hayes excelled in the second half, contributing 11. Together, they accounted for seven of the team’s eight successful 3-point shots throughout the game. On the other side, Georgia Tech’s efforts were led by Tonie Morgan, who scored 17 points, and Dani Carnegie, who added 16 points. Kara Dunn also contributed with 11 points, while Kayla Blackshear recorded a solid performance with 10 points and nine rebounds.

With this latest victory, N.C. State has now won nine of their last 11 matchups against Georgia Tech, marking their first win in Atlanta since their 84-75 triumph on December 31, 2020. The Wolfpack, who currently enjoy a 19-game winning streak at home, are set to host top-ranked Notre Dame this upcoming Sunday. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech will prepare for their final regular-season home game against Florida State on the same day.
