BRUSSELS — The second leg of the Europa League playoff clash between Anderlecht and Fenerbahce experienced a temporary suspension due to disturbances among fans on Thursday evening.

The issues arose shortly after Fenerbahce’s Youssef En-Nesyri found the net in just the fourth minute of the match. In response to the escalating situation, UEFA announced the match was halted “due to security concerns.” Riot police were dispatched to manage the crowd, and play resumed approximately 15 minutes later.

Towards the end of the match, Fenerbahce’s goalkeeper, ?rfan Can E?ribayat, required brief medical attention after being targeted by objects thrown from the stands by Anderlecht supporters, including cans.

Despite the chaos, Fenerbahce advanced to the round of 16 following a 2-2 draw in the second leg, having secured a 3-0 advantage in the first meeting.
