Katie Lou Samuelson is making a return to the Seattle Storm, as confirmed by her agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas, on Thursday.
Samuelson previously played for the Storm during the 2021 season and has now agreed to a one-year contract with the team. Earlier this month, she parted ways with the Indiana Fever, having missed the entire 2023 season due to maternity leave following the birth of her daughter, Aliya. During 2022, she participated in 37 games for the Fever, where she averaged 4.3 points per game.

In the preceding season, Samuelson secured a two-year deal worth $355,000 with the Fever, with the 2024 portion valued at $175,000, as reported by Her Hoops Stats. Due to the protective nature of her contract, Indiana provided her a buyout option. However, the specifics of her contract with Seattle have not been revealed yet.

At 27 years old, Samuelson began 24 games for the Storm during her last tenure, posting averages of 7.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists that season.

Currently, she is participating in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league based in Miami. Samuelson was selected to represent the U.S. national team in 3-on-3 basketball at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, but she had to withdraw just before the event due to a COVID-19 infection.

This offseason marks a period of significant change for the Storm, following the trade of star guard Jewell Loyd to Las Vegas in a three-team deal that allowed Seattle to acquire the No. 2 draft pick. The team has also brought in free agent Alysha Clark, completed a trade for Lexie Brown, and re-signed Nneka Ogwumike, further reshaping their roster.

On the other hand, the Indiana Fever are also undergoing substantial roster changes aimed at supporting Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. They have brought in players like Natasha Howard, DeWanna Bonner, Sophie Cunningham, Sydney Colson, and Brianna Turner. Additionally, the Fever have switched coaches, appointing Stephanie White to lead the team moving forward.
