BOULDER, Colo. — In an impressive display of athleticism, Bella Fontleroy led the charge with 21 points while Jada Walker contributed 17, propelling No. 19 Baylor to a comfortable victory over Colorado with a score of 84-62 on Wednesday evening. This victory marks the Bears’ seventh consecutive win, showcasing their prowess on the court.
Sarah Andrews added to the Bears’ total with 12 points and Aaronette Vanleh chipped in 10 points, helping Baylor improve to a record of 23-5 overall and 13-2 in the Big 12 conference. The Bears are currently tied for the top position with No. 10 TCU, who holds an overall record of 25-3 and also maintains a 13-2 conference record.
On the other side, Jade Masogayo finished with 16 points, while Johanna Teder contributed 14 points for Colorado, who now holds an overall record of 17-9 and a conference record of 8-7, with a home record standing at an impressive 13-2.
Baylor started strong, nailing seven three-pointers during the first half, which set the tone for a commanding 47-24 lead at halftime. Fontleroy, Walker, and Vanleh all made significant contributions, each scoring in double digits with Fontleroy and Walker each having 12 points along with Vanleh’s 10.
The turning point came in the third quarter, where the Bears went on a remarkable 13-0 run, scoring nine points in under two minutes, extending their lead to 63-30. At the conclusion of the quarter, Baylor held a commanding lead of 76-38.
However, Colorado rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring Baylor 24-8 as the Bears struggled offensively, managing only one field goal, a three-pointer from Aliyah Matharu, alongside five free throws from Walker.
Having put an end to Colorado’s impressive 10-game home winning streak, Baylor is set to host Iowa State on Saturday before traveling to face No. 12 Kansas State on Monday. The Wildcats boast an impressive home record of 14-0, with an overall record of 24-4 and a conference standing of 12-3.
Meanwhile, Colorado will head to face No. 24 Oklahoma State on Saturday, looking to bounce back from this loss.
