In a thrilling game on Wednesday night, Saint Joseph’s emerged victorious against George Washington with a final score of 79-68, thanks in part to Erik Reynolds II’s impressive performance, where he contributed 19 points.
Reynolds finished the game shooting 5 of 11 from the field, which included a less favorable 1 for 5 from beyond the three-point line; however, he excelled at the free-throw line, converting 8 of 9 attempts. This win brings the Hawks’ record to 16-10 overall and 8-6 within the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Rasheer Fleming also played a key role in the victory, totaling 18 points while shooting 7 of 12 from the floor, 4 of which were three-pointers. Additionally, he made an impact on the boards with 11 rebounds. Xzayvier Brown added to the team’s tally with 14 points, demonstrating his efficiency by shooting 6 of 10, including a successful 2 of 5 from three-point range.

George Washington’s efforts were spearheaded by Rafael Castro, who recorded a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, alongside two blocks. His teammate, Darren Buchanan, contributed 13 points in the defeat, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Hawks.

The game remained competitive until Saint Joseph’s took control with only 2:39 left in the first half, finishing the period with a slight 39-36 lead, bolstered by Reynolds’ 14 first-half points. Fleming continued to be a pivotal player in the second half, scoring 13 additional points.

Both teams are set to return to the court on Saturday, with Saint Joseph’s scheduled to host Richmond while George Washington will welcome UMass.
