MUNICH — Harry Kane was absent from Bayern Munich’s training session on Monday due to a facial injury, just one day prior to the crucial Champions League encounter against Celtic.
Kane received treatment for his facial injury during the latter part of Bayern’s goalless draw against Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday, despite being able to complete the match.
Bayern’s head coach, Vincent Kompany, provided reassurance on Monday, indicating that the issue is “nothing serious,” and mentioned that they would assess how Kane feels during the next day’s preparations.
The team is set to face Celtic on Tuesday, engaging in the second leg of their Champions League playoff. Kane was instrumental in the first leg last week, scoring a goal that contributed to Bayern’s 2-1 victory in Glasgow.
Should Kane be unable to participate in the match, Kompany has several attacking options available. He could choose to field Thomas Müller or Serge Gnabry at the front, or alternatively, play Jamal Musiala in a “false nine” role, supported by Michael Olise.
