No. 16 Oklahoma women’s team dominates second half to defeat Missouri 82-66

    COLUMBIA, Mo. — In a solid performance on Sunday, the No. 16 Oklahoma women’s basketball team overcame a halftime deficit to secure a commanding 82-66 victory against Missouri. After going into the locker room down 44-40, the Sooners erupted in the second half, significantly outscoring their opponents.


    The third quarter proved to be pivotal for Oklahoma, as they dominated with a 25-10 scoring surge. Lexy Keys played a crucial role, adding two 3-pointers and finishing the quarter with eight points. Zya Vann also made notable contributions, scoring seven points in the same quarter.


    Despite missing their first two attempts after the break, the Sooners quickly found their rhythm, making 14 out of the next 20 shots they attempted. Their explosive play included a 12-0 run that solidified their 77-57 lead midway through the fourth quarter, effectively sealing the victory. Over the course of the second half, Oklahoma recorded an impressive shooting percentage of 60%, compared to Missouri’s struggles, as they were outscored 42-22 during that period.


    Oklahoma’s scoring depth was evident, with Skylar Vann leading the way with 14 points, followed closely by Keys with 13, Zya Vann contributing 11, and Sahara Williams adding 10. For the Tigers, Ashton Judd was the top scorer with 13 points, while both Laniah Randle and Grace Slaughter chipped in with 12 points each.


    In the earlier segments of the game, Missouri had a brief lead, highlighted by a solid stretch in the second quarter where they netted 14 points in just three minutes. This effort was supported by effective 3-point shooting from Judd, De’Myla Brown, and Slaughter, positioning the Tigers at a 29-22 advantage. However, Oklahoma responded effectively as Skylar Vann nailed a 3-pointer and Zya followed with a layup to pull the Sooners closer to a 40-38 score before halftime.


    Looking ahead, Missouri is set to host another ranked opponent, No. 8 Kentucky, on Thursday, while Oklahoma will play against Vanderbilt on the same day.
