ITTA BENA, Mississippi — Lorenzo Downey contributed significantly to Alabama A&M’s success, scoring 17 points in the team’s 82-70 win over Mississippi Valley State on Saturday evening.

Downey’s shooting performance was impressive, as he hit 5 out of 6 attempts, which included an outstanding 4 of 5 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he managed to convert 3 out of 4 from the free-throw line, playing a key role in the Bulldogs’ victory, which improved their record to 8 wins and 17 losses, with a conference standing of 4-8 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. Anthony Bryant also had a solid game, contributing 16 points on 4 of 10 shooting from the floor, including 2 of 5 from three-point range. He also had an effective night at the line, making 6 of 9 attempts while grabbing six rebounds. Darius Ford added 12 points, showcasing his shooting efficiency with 3 of 4 from the field and 5 of 7 from the free-throw line.

On the other side, Jair Horton was the top performer for the Delta Devils, finishing the game with 15 points along with seven rebounds. Greg Moore and Antonio Sisk also made their marks on the scoreboard, with Moore providing 14 points and Sisk chipping in 12 points.

Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled to play again on Monday. The Bulldogs will travel to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, while Mississippi Valley State will take on Alabama State at home.
