Commerce, Texas — In an exciting match on Saturday, Alexis Marmolejos contributed significantly to Lamar’s victory over East Texas A&M, securing a score of 65-55.


Marmolejos recorded 13 points, showcasing impressive shooting as he connected on 5 of 9 attempts from the field, which included 2 out of 5 from three-point range. The Cardinals, now standing at 16 wins and 10 losses with an 11-4 record in the Southland Conference, also saw notable performances from Andrew Holifield and Adam Hamilton. Holifield added 10 points to the scoreboard, converting 3 of 7 shots, and was effective from the line as he made 4 out of 5 free throws while grabbing nine rebounds. Additionally, Hamilton finished the game with eight points on 3 of 5 shooting.


For the Lions, who are struggling this season with a record of 3 wins and 23 losses, TJ Thomas led the team with 11 points, alongside contributing four assists and four steals. His efforts were complemented by Evan Phelps, who netted 10 points, also achieving four assists and three steals.
