The Quaker Oats Company has initiated a recall of 10,000 boxes of pancake mix due to the presence of milk that was not listed on the packaging, raising concerns about potential serious allergic reactions.
Headquartered in Chicago and part of PepsiCo, the company is recalling 2-pound boxes of the Pearl Milling Company Original Pancake & Waffle Mix, which were available in retail locations across 11 states. Affected products may have been purchased as early as November 2024. Each box features a UPC code of 30000 65040 and a best-by date of September 13, 2025.
Previously branded as Aunt Jemima pancake mix, the recalled product was distributed to stores in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, Utah, and Wisconsin.
Individuals with milk allergies or sensitivities are at risk for serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume the affected pancake mix. Although no allergic incidents linked to this recall have been reported, the company recommends that consumers with these sensitivities dispose of the product immediately.
Overall, the recall serves as a reminder for consumers to check food labels carefully, especially if they have known food allergies.
