SPARTANBURG, S.C. — In an exciting clash on Wednesday night, UNC Asheville triumphed over South Carolina Upstate with a score of 92-85, bolstered by a strong performance from Jordan Marsh, who netted 27 points.
In addition to his scoring, Marsh contributed six rebounds to help the Bulldogs improve their record to 18-7 overall and 9-2 in the Big South Conference. Toyaz Solomon also made a significant impact in the game with an impressive 22 points, achieving 8 out of 14 shooting from the field, and successfully converting 6 of 10 free throws, while also grabbing 11 rebounds. Josh Banks added 14 points to the scoreboard, demonstrating his shooting skills despite a challenging night beyond the arc, where he was 1 for 6 from three-point range, but he managed to sink all 7 of his free throw attempts.
For the Spartans, who are struggling this season with a record of 5-22 and just 1-11 in the conference, Mister Dean and Karmani Gregory both led the team offensively, scoring 23 points each. Brit Harris contributed 11 points, but despite their efforts, it marked a disappointing continuation of the team’s 10-game losing streak.
Both teams are set to compete again this Saturday, with UNC Asheville gearing up to host Charleston Southern while South Carolina Upstate will face off against Gardner-Webb. The outcomes of these matchups could be pivotal for both teams as they continue through the season.
