NEWARK, N.J. — Aerin Frankel showcased her skills with an impressive performance, making 25 saves to secure her first shutout of the season as the Boston Fleet triumphed over the New York Sirens with a score of 4-0 on Wednesday night.

This victory marks Boston’s first regulation win on the road this season, allowing them to equal New York’s standing in the PWHL with both teams accumulating 20 points (4-3-2-5 for Boston and 4-3-2-6 for New York).

The Fleet’s offensive showing resulted in contributions from 10 different players, reflecting a team effort. Notably, this game matched Boston’s highest goal tally for the season following a previous 4-1 win against Toronto on January 22.

The scoring began for Boston when Susanna Tapani scored just before the first period ended, deflecting Hilary Knight’s shot into the net with only 4.6 seconds left on the clock, taking the score to 1-0.

In the early moments of the third period, Megan Keller added another goal with a powerful shot from the blue line, extending Boston’s lead to 2-0.

Two quick goals followed as Jamie Lee Rattray and Shay Maloney each found the net within two minutes of each other later in the third. Rattray capitalized on a rebound after a shot from the left-wing circle, while Maloney executed a breakaway to score her third goal of the season.

Frankel’s streak continues as she records her fifth consecutive win, which includes a previous shootout victory against the Sirens that saw her surpass 1,000 career saves.

This win solidifies Boston’s dominance over New York this season as they have now claimed victory in all three matchups, ensuring that they achieve at least a season split. Meanwhile, the Sirens, who have bested every other team this season, will aim for their initial victory against the Fleet in their upcoming game on Monday.

Currently, New York is struggling with no wins in their last three matches, having scored only three goals during that stretch.
