SYDNEY — Australian cricketer Matt Kuhnemann faces an upcoming biomechanical assessment of his bowling technique following concerns raised by match officials during the recent test series in Sri Lanka.

Reports indicate that Kuhnemann has been officially referred to the International Cricket Council (ICC) after umpires highlighted issues with his bowling action. Should his display be found to exceed the permissible level of arm flexion, he may be subjected to a suspension.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that they were informed of the referral after the second test match against Sri Lanka in Galle, affirming their commitment to support Kuhnemann throughout this investigation.

Kuhnemann, who has participated in 124 professional matches since his career began in 2017, has notably taken part in five test games without prior scrutiny over his bowling style.

At 28 years of age, Kuhnemann delivered an impressive performance in the two-match series, securing 16 wickets at an average of 17.18. Across his five test matches, he has amassed a total of 25 wickets.

The left-arm spinner is scheduled to complete his biometric testing in Brisbane later this month, with findings to be sent to the ICC for review. In the event that he does not meet the required standards, Kuhnemann will be barred from play while he undergoes necessary corrective training on his bowling technique.
