ROTTEDAM, Netherlands — Feyenoord has announced the appointment of former player Pascal Bosschaart as their interim coach just before a critical Champions League playoff match against AC Milan.

Bosschaart steps into the role following the dismissal of Brian Priske, who was let go on Monday. The club attributed Priske’s exit to “inconsistent results and a lack of chemistry” within the team.

Having played for Feyenoord as a defender from 2004 to 2006, Bosschaart commenced his first training session with the squad on Tuesday, taking charge of their preparations for the upcoming match.

Currently, Feyenoord is positioned fifth in the Eredivisie, trailing the league leaders Ajax by a notable 12 points. The Dutch team is set to host AC Milan on Wednesday for the first leg of the playoff encounters.
